Other, smaller props are used in pilates, like weighted balls and resistance bands. One such apparatus is the magic circle, which is normally made of a flexible metal or rubber and is padded. It provides a lighter type of resistance and targets thighs, chest and arms.
Pilates is centered on proper breathing and focusing on the “powerhouse” – the buttocks, abdomen, lower back and hips which are in the center of the body. It helps to oxygenate the muscles and reduce tension in the shoulders and upper neck.
